Coating system for floors and walls specially formulated for the long-term protection against wear, abrasion, and chemical spills.
RD-Hydropox is ideal for protecting industrial floors or walls subject to intensive cleaning processes. RD-Hydropox has the advantage of being water-based and completely free from solvents or VOCs. It is therefore an ideal product to use during renovation because it causes very little discomfort for neighboring occupants.
Coating system for floors and walls specially formulated for the long-term protection against wear, abrasion, and chemical spills.
RD-Hydropox is a two-component water-based epoxy for indoor use. It protects various type of surfaces against intensive wear, abrasion, soiling, and other aggressive chemicals such as solvents, cleaning agents, etc.
RD-Hydropox is indicated for the protection of industrial floors, garages, car parks, workshops, ...; walls and floors requiring frequent and intensive cleaning like in the food industry; and any other equipment or infrastructure subject to intensive or aggressive use: drainage channels, water tanks (non-potable), machinery, etc.
RD-Hydropox is water-based, easy to handle, safe and has no fire risks.
It does not contain any solvents neither any VOCs.
Virtually odour free, it does not affect neighbouring occupants and can therefore be used in occupied buildings.
RD-Hydropox is formulated with high quality raw materials. After drying, the coating forms a hard and wear resistant film that will resist to intensive traffic and cleaning.
RD-Hydropox is part of the SCS – Single Coating System - product group.
Can be applied directly to almost any concrete, cement, and masonry surface.
For ferrous and non-ferrous metals, first apply one or two coats of RD-Monoguard.
For synthetic substrates (hard), glass, ... first apply a layer of RD-Multiprim.

1/ Broadcast sand or quartz (silicic sand 99% purity 0,3-1mm) on the freshly painted first coat of RD-Hydropox. Broadcast until rejection or lightly depending on the required roughness.
2/ Wait at least two hours until the coating is dry.
3/ Brush off the non-adhering sand.
4/ Apply the second coat of RD-Hydropox.
Apply a first coat of RD-Monoguard followed by RD-Hydropox.
Apply a first coat of RD-Multiprim followed by RD-Hydropox.
Indicated consumption is theoretical and does not consider potential losses during application. It can also be influenced by the porosity of the substrate.
Ambient temperature: minimum 5° C (41°F) – Optimal between 12° and 25°C (54° and 77°F).
Relative humidity: maximum 80 %
Dew point > 3°C (5°F)
The screed may not contain more than 4% humidity.
Brush, roller, or airless-spraying equipment (nozzle opening: 021-023)
The substrate must be dry, degreased and dust-free.
Smooth screeds must be treated beforehand, different options are possible:
- Sand the surface to obtain roughness
- Lightly etch the surface with an acidic solution
- Apply a layer of RD-Multiprim.
Repairs on concrete should be made using RD-Cement Filler.
By weight: Component A: 860 g - Component B: 140 g
By volume: 4,8 : 1
The hardener and the base must be mixed scrupulously respecting the indicated ratio. Do not leave product in the bottom of the hardener packaging. A bad mixture can cause damage, such as bubbles, poor hardening, matt and weaker spots.
Mixing:
• Mix mechanically long enough (for +/- 3 minutes for 15 kg of product) the two components until a uniform mass of one colour is obtained.
• After mixing, let the mixture rest for about 5 minutes to allow the product to cool and eliminate the formation of air bubbles.
2 hours at 20°C
Dilute the first coat by maximum 10% with water when applied as primer on a porous substrate
Touch dry: after 8 hours
Recoatable:
• at 10 ° C / 50 ° F, at least 24 hours and 48 hours maximum,
• at 20 ° C / 68 ° F, at least 12 hours and 48 hours maximum.
In the event of a longer overcoating time, it will be imperative to sand the first layer to ensure optimal adhesion of the next layer.
Final hardness after 7 days
RD-Hydropox needs 72 hours at 20° C/68° F to obtain maximum mechanical properties. For full chemical resistant properties, 7 days are required at a temperature of 20 ° C/68° F.
This means that during this period, no liquids, including water, should come in contact with the coating.
