Our water-based anti-corrosion coatings selected for the renovation of the Øresund Bridge.

The Øresund Bridge is a major engineering work in Europe that connects Denmark to Sweden over the strait of the same name, and it was opened in 2000. It consists of railway tracks and a highway in a unique structure made of more than 82,000 tons of steel over almost 8 km / 5 miles!

The steel structures were originally protected with a traditional high-performance paint system of the epoxy/polyurethane type. Various types of relatively early corrosion appeared on the structure, and by 2015, the need for a thorough renovation arose.

After many tests of systems from different manufacturers, RD Coatings products were selected.

The very high level of expertise of our Danish partner, the company Acrymatic Coating ApS, the numerous references, the high performance, and the ecological nature of the products were decisive and reassured the Øresundsbro Konsortiet, the company responsible for managing the bridge, in their choice.

The work began in 2020 and is expected to be completed around 2028 or 2029.
